Dr. Diana Aga is a University Distinguished Professor and the Henry M. Woodburn Professor of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York, USA. She is the Director of the UB RENEW Institute (Research and Education in eNergy, Environment, and Water), a university-wide and interdisciplinary initiative, focusing on complex energy and environmental issues. As an analytical chemist, her research focuses on the fate, transport, effects, and treatment of chemicals of emerging concern and persistent organic pollutants in the environment, including PFAS. She is an expert in target and non-target analysis using liquid chromatography with high-resolution mass spectrometry. She is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and has received various awards (e.g., NSF CAREER, Fulbright Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship).

António O. S. S. Rangel (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6486-8947) is a Full Professor at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB), Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Porto, Portugal. He is currently the President of the Scientific Board of ESB and a member of the Direction Board of the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry. He is an Associate Editor of the Talanta journal. He got his degree in Chemistry from the University of Porto, and his PhD degree in Biotechnology (specialisation in Chemistry) from ESB-UCP in 1991. He co-authored more than 200 papers in international journals and supervised 21 PhD theses. He got the “FIA Award for Science” from the Japanese Association for Flow Injection Analysis in 2010. His research interests are focused on the development of fluidic and microfluidic methods for (bio)chemical assays, with applications in the environmental, food, and biomedical sectors. His teaching activity involves general chemistry and analytical chemistry courses.

Dr. Boris Mizaikoff is a Chaired Professor and Director of the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry @ Ulm University, Germany. 2021-2025 he was also a Director at the Hahn-Schickard Institute for Microanalysis Systems. His research interests focus on optical sensors, biosensors, and biomimetic sensors in the mid-infrared spectral range, system miniaturization and integration based on micro- and nanofabrication, multifunctional (nano)analytical platforms, development of biomolecular/biomimetic recognition architectures, multivariate data evaluation, and applications in environmental analytics, process analysis, and biomedical/clinical diagnostics. He has received several awards for his accomplishments and is (co)author of 500+ peer-reviewed publications and 22 patents.

Rosário Domingues graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Coimbra (1990), received her Ph.D. degree in Chemistry (1998), and Habilitation in Biochemistry (2014) at University of Aveiro . Since 2016 she held the contract of Associated Professor with habilitation in the Mass Spectrometry Centre, Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro (UA).She is the head of the Lipidomic laboratory at the university of Aveiro http://lipidomics.web.ua.pt/.  She is the Director of the Doctoral Program in Biochemistry at UA. She has over 25 years of research experience in the field of mass spectrometry, and is a well-established researcher in the field of Lipidomics such as Lipidomics in Heath and Disease, Oxidative Lipidomic, Marine, Algae and Food lipidomics, in Glycomics and changes in biomolecules associated with oxidative stress monitored by mass spectrometry. Her research interest includes the deciphering the adaptation of the lipidome and lipid metabolism  for the identification of biomarkers for disease diagnostic and monitoring, and to unravel the role of food( including algae)  lipids and lipidome in food quality and nutrition for healthy diets. She is the author of one book and seven book chapters, more than 470 articles published in international journals with referee. She coordinated and participated in several research projects funded by national and European programs (30 in total). Ricardo Bettencourt da Silva earned his BSc in Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon (FCUL), his MSc in Bromatology from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon, and his PhD in Analytical Chemistry – Metrology in Chemistry at FCUL. He completed the last two degrees while working full-time as an analyst in both public and private laboratories, analysing various inorganic and organic analytes in different matrices using both classical and instrumental methods. His analytical experience focused on validating measurement procedures, quality control of tests, and evaluating measurement uncertainty. In 2009, he joined the Centre for Molecular Sciences and Materials, later the Centro de Química Estrutural, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, where he became a Professor of Analytical Chemistry.

His research involves developing approaches for the detailed evaluation of the uncertainty of complex measurements, examining the sources of lack of comparability of measurements across some analytical fields, evaluating the uncertainty of qualitative analysis, and creating tutorials and user-friendly software for reliable interpretation of analytical data.

Ricardo Silva is the Future President of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry since 2025 (www.spq.pt). He has been a technical assessor for the Portuguese Accreditation body since 2002 (www.ipac.pt). He has served as CITAC Vice-chair since 2024 (www.citac.group), and has been a member of the Executive Committee of Eurachem since 2012 (www.eurachem.org). Additionally, he has been a member of the ‘Eurachem/CITAC Measurement Uncertainty and Traceability Working Group’ since 2010, chair of the ‘Eurachem/CITAC Qualitative Analysis Working Group’ since 2017, the Portuguese delegate of Eurachem since 2010, and co-coordinator of ForMEQ (www.formeq.org) from 2019 to 2022.

Tiago Rosado is an Assistant Professor of Toxicology at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FCS) of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã, Portugal, and Assistant Professor of Human Physiology and Histology at Dr. Lopes Dias Higher School of Health (ESALD), Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB), Portugal. He is a researcher at the RISE-Health research unit and has been a collaborator with the Laboratory of Pharmaco-Toxicology of Ubimedical (Covilhã) since 2013. In 2023, he was appointed Leader of the Commission for Drug-Related Problems of the Clinical Academic Centre of Beiras (CACB).

His main research interests include bioanalysis, disease biomarker detection, analytical, clinical and forensic toxicology, and therapeutic drug monitoring. His work focuses particularly on the development and validation of analytical methods for the detection of environmental contaminants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, drugs of abuse, and other bioactive compounds in biofluids and alternative specimens. He has a strong emphasis on innovative and solventless extraction techniques, including solid-phase microextraction (SPME), liquid–liquid microextraction (LLME), and microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS).

His research activity has resulted in the authorship or co-authorship of over 70 scientific publications and more than 60 communications at national and international conferences. Additionally, he has served as Guest Editor of the special issues “Essential Oils: Chemistry and Food Applications” in Foods and “Psychoactive Substances in Disease Treatment: Trends and Developments” in Life.
